Introducing Holly....

Hello my lovely friends, how are we all today?

Its been a crazy week at our house. Busy Busy Busy as usual. I was almost going to call this design a FAIL as the the band came out a little smaller than I wanted. Its a bit tight on my head. But then I went and found this young lady who I have decided to call Holly for future reference,  in the cupboard upstairs and well...... it fits her so I assume it would fit a young girl.....

I think I will write up the pattern with a variation on size and have a go at making it a little bigger in the rim. Other than that I am happy with it.

Ta-Dah

Have a wonderful week all. Hugs and smooches xoxox

On the needles....

I took delivery of some new yarn the other day....

So you know what happened hey? I could obviously not wait to play with it.....

It is rather lovely! I like it, I do! :-)

And the best part.....its only $10 for a 200g ball at the moment. Its new at Bendigo Woollen Mills and spun very loosely and its Oh so squishy and soft and well, just look at those colours! At this stage I already want some more.

So I guess you know what I will be up to for the next few days.

Have a wonderful weekend lovelies. Love and Light to you all. xoxoxo

Thursday's Ta-Dah

A little ta-dah today. I actually finished this a couple of days ago but only put the buttons on today. I am calling this one the Chelsea after my niece.......

I used pure wool for the pink part and acrylic for the main. Only because it was the only colour I could find in my stash that would match the pink.

It was purely one of those over sights. I thought I had 6 balls of the pink and I only had 2. So rather than start over I just used what I had.

I had originally started with a pattern but after the 3rd row the pattern did not make sense so in my usual fashion I just changed it and made it up as I went along.

All in all, it did not turn out too bad I guess.

I would like to make this in either cotton or pure wool as the main part this time was in acrylic and I can't say that I am entirely satisfied with the result. It looks better in real life than in pictures but still you all know me by now. A bit fussy about my yarn and self critical about my work. LOL

I am pretty sure my niece will love it. :-)

Whats in a bag?

My beautiful sister in law popped in last night with a bag of goodies for me. She has been having a mega clean out and although she learned to knit a little while ago, she is over it already. (insert shocked face right here!!!!!!). She was gifted this lovely bag of goodies and decided that they would get more use at my house.

I think she may be right........Oh My Goodness......there is at least one of every sized needle in there, not to mention all the stitch holders and hooks. One can NEVER have too many of those you know?

And full of yarny goodness, the rest of the bag certainly was. There is loads of acrylic yarn which will be sorted and probably shared with others. A couple of balls of lovely soft pure wool in blue which I just so happen to have some of myself. Now there is enough to make something baby with that. Yay! There are even some knitting books which I will also pass on to friends as I already have one of them and probably won't use the others.  And there was this Rainbow of  chunky yarn that I could not resist having a play with straight away.

(Note:  I could not help but take pictures of it either. LOL Love the way the light and flash effects the colours so differently)

Chunky yarn is not common around here as it does not really get that cold that one needs it. Can't say that I love it as its acrylic and not so wonderfully soft. (Yep the yarn snob in me was rearing her head again. Sorry)  But at least I get to try out this little pattern I found in a magazine. And I am pretty sure my niece will love this rainbow of colour.

Progress report on other things........the dress is coming along.........all make it up as you go.. and I guess going fine. Again, not loving the acrylic part but it was the only colour I had that matched.

And the little cardigan is a bit slow going as I have not really had much sit down yarn time at all. Too much beach weather last week. :-)

And the normal day to day stuff of course. Like keeping house, homeschooling, going to beach, reading, gardening, going to the beach again. LOL You can catch up with those adventures on my other blog. (link in sidebar).

And now I must away,  we are going to work out or weight in gold today and I have a mountain of laundry to tackle. Juggling life is my forte! ;-)

Have a beautiful week all.

A little vintage play....

I pulled out the old vintage books this week looking for something new to do. And started not one but two new projects.

On the needles........ a little lacy baby cardigan......yarn picked up for the grand price of $1 for two balls at an op-shop. Don't you just LOVE such finds? I do.

On the hook...... a little dress which is not quite going to plan. The pattern makes no sense what-so-ever so in my usual fashion after nearly throwing in the towel, I just started making it up as I went along. It IS going to work. Almost 3 year old niece chose it herself so it has to. It will just have to be a little improvised.

Im feeling very yarn enthusiastic this week so hopefully I will get a bit of time for it. What are you making right now?

Wishing you a wonderful, productive week.

Circles.......Advice please.....

I really love my new coat and since I had  some left over yarn, I decided to whip up a hat to match. I think it ended up a bit over kill and thought perhaps I would take the top section off and make two different hats. One with the circle pattern in the rear and a plain band and one with the circle panels and a plain back, However, my daughter thought it looked really cute, so now I am not sure what to do. What do you think?

We had a rather rushed photo shoot which was quite a lark. Trying to get a picture of the hat looking how it should proved a bit funny when we were not using a mirror etc. My photographer just kept snapping and pulling and well......we laughed a lot what can I say?

The back shot......

The re-arranged by daughter look....

The lets take a dopey self portrait in the mirror (Note to self: Clean the mirror!!!!)

The back of the coat again......just in case you missed it before......

So back to the hat, should I keep it or change it?

Are you sick of looking at me yet? Ok just one more...
